Guidewire Software Responds to Accenture Lawsuit

Guidewire Software®, a leading global provider of solutions to property and casualty insurers, issued its initial response to Accenture’s announcement earlier today of the filing of an alleged patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation against Guidewire Software in United States District Court for the District of Delaware.

Guidewire first learned of the allegations this afternoon via press reports. Accenture has never notified Guidewire of any allegation of infringement or misappropriation or any other concern and Guidewire was not previously aware of the patent mentioned in Accenture’s press release. Also, Guidewire has not seen the complaint as Accenture has not yet served it or otherwise provided it to Guidewire.

Guidewire's policy is to respect the intellectual property rights of all third parties. Guidewire has not yet had the opportunity to examine the patent at issue, but Guidewire has not misappropriated any trade secrets of Accenture and it has no knowledge that it has infringed any patents, including Accenture's. Guidewire intends to respond in a timely manner to Accenture's claims and will defend itself in this action to ensure that its rights are fully protected.

We will review the details of the allegations and respond in the appropriate manner.”
