Guidewire Hosts Successful User Conference - Thanks Customers for Loyalty and Support

Connections 2007 brings Guidewire and its customers together to celebrate successes, share experiences, and best practices

CONNECTIONS 2007, BURLINGAME, CA, October 25, 2007 - Guidewire Software®, a leading global provider of solutions to property and casualty and workers’ compensation insurers, today concluded its annual user conference, Connections 2007.  The two-and-a-half day event included knowledge sharing and best practice exchanges among the company’s customers, and with Guidewire personnel.  Connections 2007 attendance more than doubled that of the 2006 conference.  Insurers from six countries attended this year’s event, including carriers from Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Russia, United Kingdom, and the United States.

The event’s keynote presentation was made by Tom Hutton, managing partner, Thomson Hutton LLC and former chairman of White Mountain re Group. The keynote provided Tom’s perspectives on the near term prospects for the P&C industry. Donald Light, senior analyst, Celent looked a bit further forward, presenting on the Insurance Organization of the Future which gave attendees insight into P&C insurance trends on the horizon. Guidewire’s Marcus Ryu, vice president, Strategy and New Products, provided a day two keynote on the topic of legacy system transformation. 

Guidewire Innovation Awards were presented to Amica Mutual Insurance Company, Rosgosstrakh (RGS), and Suncorp. These carriers were selected by their peer group of Guidewire customers as companies utilizing Guidewire technology in innovative or creative ways, realizing significant business benefits for their organizations.

Attendees selected from among 22 break out sessions, designed to appeal to the interests of business and technical audiences across each Guidewire product area (claims; policy/underwriting; and billing), including:

  • "what's new" session for each product and for the Guidewire platform, highlighting the key features in the next major releases;
  • case study presentations by Guidewire customers: Amica, AXA Canada, CompWest, Great American Insurance Company, Rosgosstrakh, and Suncorp;
  • in-depth sessions that provided valuable information to customers that are currently implementing Guidewire products, including: Agile project management strategies (with Sentry); document management integrations (with CNA, Donegal, Hastings Mutual, and Montana State Fund); and data conversion strategies; and
  • Claims Operations in 2010 panel discussion focusing on the issues insurers need to address now in order to be competitive in 2010; with panelists from BearingPoint, CastleBay Consulting, and Celent.

Connections 2007 was sponsored by Guidewire alliance partners: BearingPoint, CastleBay Consulting, Active Consulting, Capgemini, and Exstream Software – who were on hand to speak with event attendees about their services/solutions.
