The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company Selects Guidewire ClaimCenter

One of Canada's Oldest Property & Casualty Insurers Modernizes Claim Processing with Guidewire ClaimCenter

TORONTO, Ontario, Canada, and SAN MATEO, Calif., December 14, 2005

The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company ("The Dominion"), property and casualty insurer of cars, homes, and businesses across Canada; and Guidewire Software®, a leading provider of solutions to property and casualty and workers' compensation insurers, today announced that The Dominion has selected Guidewire ClaimCenter® as its next-generation claims processing system.

Recognizing the limitations of its existing legacy claims technology, The Dominion proactively embarked on an extensive search for a replacement system. Guidewire ClaimCenter was selected to support the end-to-end claims handling process for all lines of business. Legacy system replacement will be completed in a phased approach over the next several years.

"We found Guidewire ClaimCenter's extensive functionality, intuitive web interface, and ease of implementation particularly attractive," said Jerry Dalla Corte, Vice President, Business Process Delivery and Information (BPDI), The Dominion. "ClaimCenter met all of our functional requirements and will provide us with a solid technology foundation enabling us to step up the levels of service we provide, particularly in regards to policyholder communications."

ClaimCenter enables The Dominion to modernize and optimize claims handling while improving service to policyholders, a network of independent brokers, and internal departments and management. ClaimCenter has been localized to meet Canadian requirements. Using ClaimCenter, The Dominion will be able to:

  • Automate and streamline claims processes for all lines of business;
  • Leverage a modern, web-based application that is simple to implement and easy to maintain;
  • Enhance management reporting capabilities within the claims department and with other internal stakeholders;
  • Automatically and consistently route claims and tasks based on business-rule driven workflows; and
  • Preserve system enhancements while deploying new product versions, allowing The Dominion to take advantage of new functionality that Guidewire continues to add while maintaining their own system changes.

"The Dominion has a long-standing tradition of 'pushing the marketplace' as it strives to satisfy changing policyholder needs and strengthen broker relationships," said John Raguin, president, Guidewire Software. "We applaud this philosophy and are pleased to welcome them to the global Guidewire family. With ClaimCenter, The Dominion gains a flexible claims management system that will enable the company to achieve its service and technology objectives."

Guidewire ClaimCenter is a leading end-to-end claims system for property and casualty and workers' compensation insurance. ClaimCenter's flexible business rules enable claims organizations to optimize and monitor the claim process. Claims executives can define, enforce, and continually refine their preferred claim handling practices.
