Sequoia Insurance Company Replaces Legacy Claim System with Guidewire ClaimCenter

Eight-Month Implementation Transforms Sequoia's End-to-End Claim Process

MONTEREY, and SAN MATEO, Calif., August 30, 2006

Sequoia Insurance Company, a multi-line property and casualty insurer serving the western United States, and Guidewire Software®, a leading provider of solutions to property and casualty and workers' compensation insurers, today announced that Sequoia Insurance Company has deployed Guidewire ClaimCenter® as its new web-based claims processing system. ClaimCenter is supporting end-to-end claim processing for Sequoia's personal and BOP lines of business. Additional phases currently underway will support commercial auto, commercial umbrella, CMP, and inland marine, with farm and farm auto lines to foll

ClaimCenter replaces Sequoia's legacy claims system, which was an in-house developed classic financial transaction system' that didn't provide much in-depth claims management functionality. That system focused more on the financial aspects of claims. Sequoia is utilizing full ClaimCenter functionality for improved overall claims management. The carrier can also easily configure ClaimCenter as its business needs change.

With ClaimCenter, Sequoia has a system that provides them:

  • Enhanced adjuster ease-of-use;
  • Automated processes and controls for efficient and consistent claims handling;
  • Improved management visibility into the claim process;
  • Better tools for improved decision making; and
