Guidewire Software®, a leading global provider of solutions to property and casualty (P&C) and workers’ compensation insurers, today announced the winners of its Innovation Awards: Amica Mutual Insurance Company; Rosgosstrakh; and Suncorp. The winners were recognized for using or implementing Guidewire’s applications in innovative ways to deliver significant business value to their enterprise.
Every Guidewire customer was eligible to submit their in process or implemented projects for consideration. The Guidewire customer base was then given the opportunity to cast their vote. The winners were announced in the final session of Guidewire’sConnections 2007 user conference; where each winner presented an overview of their project. The winning projects are:
Amica Mutual Insurance Company (Amica) - Electronic Claim File (ECF)
Amica Mutual Insurance Company is a direct writer of personal lines insurance and is the oldest mutual insurer of automobiles in the United States. Amica has been ranked by J.D. Power and Associates “Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among National Auto Insurers” eight years in a row. Amica employs over 3,000 people in 39 offices across the United States.
Guidewire ClaimCenter and its highly flexible integration framework forms the backbone of Amica’s transformation to a full ECF (paperless) claims environment and enables the sharing and receipt of data from internal and external systems – including seamless integration to a variety of external vendors. Upon ClaimCenter deployment, ECF and the accompanying integrations will simplify the loss reporting process, eliminate redundant data entry, provide seamless work routing based on branch/staff volumes, reduce new hire training times; and provide adjusters additional time and tools to concentrate on the claims adjusting tasks critical to serving policyholders needs.
Rosgosstrakh (RGS) - Claims Business Transformation
RGS is Russia’s largest insurer and its 20+ million policyholders span 6.6 million square miles and 11 time-zones creating unique business challenges – especially in the rapidly expanding Russian insurance market. RGS realized that to achieve and maintain sustainable competitive advantages, the standardization and enforcement of business processes to the highest global standards would be a critical key.
Over a 6 month deployment, Guidewire ClaimCenter has enabled RGS to go from a largely manual claims handling process to a completely automated, state-of-the-art web-based claims handling environment. ClaimCenter enables consistent, cost effective and service sensitive claims and is being deployed across RGS’ entire claims book. It has already demonstrated great results lowering claims settlement times and increasing the levels of control in the claim organization. ClaimCenter’s underlying database design allows for wide variety of claims performance and service metrics to be designed, monitored and improved upon.
Suncorp - Claims Business Model Program
Suncorp is Australia’s 2nd largest insurer and 6th largest bank, with approximately 17,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand.
Suncorp’s Claims Business Model Program was created to help Suncorp improve its claims business by improving the customer experience while reducing its indemnity and loss adjustment expense costs. Suncorp reengineered its core business processes, then leveraged ClaimCenter’s significant out of the box claims functionality to enable its new “desired state” which included extending base ClaimCenter capabilities to include supplier management functionality - which is now seamlessly integrated into the overall claims process. The results are impressive. Since inception, the Claims Business Model Program has provided significant improvement around claims costs; customer service times and claims cycle times and the program is achieving its key project goals of improved customer service and lower claims costs.
