Connections Speakers Terms and Conditions

Connections Speakers Terms and Conditions

Congratulations on the acceptance of your Abstract (i.e., a submitted description of your proposed presentation in 100 words or less) for the speaking engagement at Connections. As a prerequisite of becoming a speaker, you are required to review and agree to the following Terms prior to embarking on this journey. We, at Guidewire Software, Inc. (“Guidewire”, “we”, “ours”, and “us”), are looking forward to working with you.

You agree to the following statements as outlined:

  • For the purposes of these Terms, Presentation is any materials, recordings, visuals, and content you create, develop, and/or use in your speaking engagement at Connections. This includes, but is not limited to, videos and recordings produced for Connections by you or your company or using you or your company’s name or likeness as part of a testimonial or real-life example of an experience with Guidewire’s products or services.

  • You represent and warrant that you have the full power, right and authority to enter into these Terms.

  • You authorize Guidewire to edit the Presentation at its discretion.

  • You grant permission to Guidewire to use the Presentation in connection with Connections in any and all manner and media and all rights whatsoever in perpetuity and worldwide. This authorized use may include, but is not limited to, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for promotional purposes, advertising, inclusion on websites, or for any other purpose(s) that Guidewire deems fit to use.

  • You warrant and represent that you have all rights and permissions necessary for any materials included in the Presentation. You agree to indemnify Guidewire for any costs, fees, or judgments, including materials violate such third party’s rights.

  • You waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use of the Presentation regardless of the purpose.

  • You agree that the inclusion of the Presentation in Connections is solely determined by Guidewire. We reserve the right to remove or replace the Presentation as deemed necessary at Guidewire’s discretion. We reserve the right to revoke the acceptance of your speaker engagement at any time without notice. Instances that can result in the revocation of acceptance include but are not limited to, missing deadlines without prompt communication with Connections staff, or not adhering to specific session guidelines and policies. You will still be allowed to attend Connections even if your acceptance has been reversed. Unless expressly agreed upon by Guidewire, we are not responsible for any costs, fees, and expenses related to the Connections. (e.g., hotel, transportation, and connectivity expenses)

  • You confirm that you have read, and agree to, the Speaker Acceptance Letter, and will be able to meet the requirements and deadlines therein to the best of your knowledge. You will promptly notify Guidewire if you are unable to meet these deadlines or foresee that such deadlines can not be met. You will reasonably work with Guidewire to find a speaker upon Guidewire’s request.

  • You agree to comply with the Connections Terms and Conditions.

Recorded Formal Dry-Run. A formal “dry run” is a video recording of a presentation as it will be delivered at Connections. Submission of a dry run is mandatory to help our Content and Design teams ensure that speakers align their talk tracks to the content on their slides. Speakers should record their dry run with Zoom and upload it together with the first draft of their presentation slides. The dry run file will be reviewed by the Connections Content and Design teams only as necessary for the purpose of giving advice and suggestions. The file will be deleted after Connections.

Costs and Fees. Guidewire is not responsible for any costs, fees, and expenses related to Connections (e.g., hotel, transportation, and connectivity expenses).

Personal Information. Guidewire uses your PII to administer your participation in Connections and for the purpose of promoting Connections and Guidewire. As a Connections speaker, your name, job role, and place of employment is shared with Connections attendees, sponsors and partners. Please note we will not share your contact information (e.g., email address and phone number) unless you consent to it. We use adequate safeguards to secure your PII.

Guidewire may disclose your PII to third party service providers to assist in attendees, partners, and sponsors, and the treatment of such information is further subject to the privacy policies of those parties. Except as described in these Terms, we will not disclose your PII to any other third party without your consent except where required to do so by law.

If you have any questions on how we handle your PII, please contact privacy@guidewire.com.

Limitation of Liability. OTHER THAN TO THE EXTENT REQUIRED AS A MATTER OF LAW: (I) NEITHER GUIDEWIRE NOR ITS AFFILIATES SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL COSTS, DAMAGES OR LOSSES ARISING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM CONNECTIONS OR OTHER ASPECT RELATED THERETO OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS.

Governing Law and Venue. These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California and the parties shall submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in San Francisco, California.

Connections Content Availability. As part of promoting our suite of products and services and Connections, Guidewire plans on making certain Connections content (e.g, the Presentation) publicly available on guidewire.com and platforms such as youtube.com. By checking the box below, you give permission for the Presentation to 1) be recorded and/or live streamed at Connections; 2) be made available to Guidewire customers and partners via Guidewire’s Community Portal for future viewing; and 3) be made publicly available on guidewire.com and platforms such as youtube.com on Guidewire’s official account with those platforms.

Please email connections@guidewire.com if you’d like to opt-out of your session being made publicly available.
