Meet Mamata Behera from CastleBay Infotech

Name: Mamata Behera
Job Title: Guidewire Architect – ClaimCenter
Company: CastleBay Infotech

How long have you been working with Guidewire products?

With over 14 years of experience working with Guidewire products, I have primarily served in Architect roles on Property & Casualty (P&C) transformation initiatives. My experience spans multiple platform versions, starting from version 7.0, and I hold certifications across all technical versions up to 10.0, including the Guidewire ACE Professional Certification in PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, and Integration.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy leading both development and implementation efforts and have worked with more than six P&C clients across regions including North America, the UK, Switzerland, and Australia.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting out in development or who is new to using Guidewire?

A strong and in-depth understanding of the insurance domain is key to excelling in Guidewire development. While it is important to build technical expertise in areas like Cloud, AI, and low-code platforms, true success comes from combining these skills with a deep knowledge of P&C insurance processes. To further strengthen your journey, I recommend completing the Guidewire training curriculum, keeping certifications current, and focusing on configuration over customization. This approach enables the community to build robust, scalable, and upgrade-friendly solutions.

What are some recent projects or initiatives you’re most proud of?

I have developed strong expertise in handling complex projects, integrating third-party systems, and tailoring Guidewire solutions to meet specific business requirements. I am proud of having contributed to a variety of implementations, including ClaimCenter and PolicyCenter, gaining comprehensive experience across the full project lifecycle—from initial concept and solution design to production deployment, including end-to-end implementations and core system modernization.

How did you first get involved with Guidewire and the developer ecosystem?

My journey with Guidewire began as a developer, and over time, I progressed into roles such as lead and architect. I started my career at TCS, where I built a strong foundation in Java and J2EE before transitioning into the Guidewire ecosystem.
