Earlier this year, teams from our global developer community competed in Guidewire’s DEVHack 2025 virtual hackathon. We’re excited that the first-place winning team, PwC, will present their innovative solution live at Connections.
The PwC team developed GigGuards, a smart, AI-powered insurance solution built for the gig economy. The solution provides affordable, on-demand coverage that activates only when a person is working. It uses real-time weather and traffic data to dynamically adjust premiums while providing targeted protections like medical, income loss, and vehicle coverage. The project was built using Guidewire technologies and the Jutro Digital Platform, showing what’s possible for insurers looking to scale usage-based insurance for this growing market.
GigGuards is a practical application of this year’s Connections theme, Intelligent Insurance. The project is a strong example of how developers can use the Guidewire Cloud Platform to build and deploy sophisticated, data-driven solutions that serve new and complex market needs.
