On March 19, 2026, Guidewire hosted Toronto Developer Day at The Aperture Room in downtown Toronto. The event gathered nearly 100 developers for a full day of hands-on learning and technical collaboration. Supported by Guidewire’s team of experts, the day focused on the primary goal of putting the latest Guidewire capabilities directly into the hands of the developer community.

Driving Innovation through the Chat-to-Quote Challenges

The event theme was "Build. Solve. Lead." to affirm that developers are in a perfect position to build technical solutions that solve real-world business problems, and help lead innovation at their organizations. Attendees participated in two gamified challenges centered on the creation of a chat-to-policy quote experience. This process required the use of the following technologies:

  • Integration Gateway and Cloud APIs
  • AI Connect (Early Access)
  • Advanced Product Designer (APD)
  • PolicyCenter
  • Jutro Web App chat experience

In the second challenge, developers used APD to convert an existing Line of Business (LOB) and then re-ran the chat-to-policy quote experience to make sure their changes took effect. This exercise demonstrated how quickly product modifications can be done on Guidewire Cloud Platform to help insurers move with speed and agility.

Business Case Development and MVP Strategy

Beyond technical execution, developers practiced building business cases for technical projects they could pitch to their organizations after the event. This exercise required attendees to identify and quantify a specific problem, propose a technical solution, and quantify the associated business value. Participants were further required to suggest an Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approach for the build phase to help them validate their assumptions and take a more nimble approach to investing in innovative ideas.

All attendees practiced a three-minute pitch to their peers, while five participants delivered one-minute pitches to the entire group in order to win a custom-made Carhartt beanie for the cold Toronto winters.

Huge Thanks to Our Developers

We want to thank our developer community for coming out and making this event a success. Your participation and feedback are vital as we refine these regional hands-on learning experiences.

“Great time collaborating with other devs in the same space and fun time solving challenges.”
