The Guidewire DEVHack 2025 competition brought together some of the brightest minds in the P&C insurance industry, challenging development teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible in insurance technology. While only a few teams could take home the top prizes, the judges were blown away by the creativity, technical skill, and passion displayed by so many participants – from inventive partners to insurers themselves.

Today, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on three outstanding teams whose solutions stood out, truly impressed the judges, and earned them well-deserved honourable mentions. Among them is an entry that came from the only insurer to reach the finalist stage, whose distinctive approach caught the judges’ attention alongside two other teams whose ingenuity and execution left a lasting mark on the DEVHack community.

Team NEC Insurtech Innovation

NEC Corporation

Team NEC Insurtech Innovation developed “Quick Relief Pay,” an automated system that delivers insurance payments to disaster victims in Japan without requiring them to file claims. By leveraging Guidewire technology, their solution identifies affected policyholders in disaster zones and processes bulk payments in a single action, dramatically speeding up relief efforts and reducing manual work for insurers. This approach helps victims move out of shelters faster and streamlines insurers’ disaster response.

NEC Insurtech Innovation

"We were incredibly impressed by Team NEC Insurtech Innovation. As the sole Japanese SI to participate, their submission was truly noteworthy and showcased exceptional quality and ingenuity. Their dedication and skill are a testament to the global talent participating in DEVHack," said DEVHack judge Lisa Walsh, Guidewire Group Vice President, Consulting Alliances.

Team Suncorp Hackers

Suncorp

Team Suncorp Hackers created “Empathy in Action,” an AI-driven claims system that instantly interprets telematic crash data to pre-fill claims, dispatch emergency help, and provide practical support to accident victims. Leveraging Guidewire and advanced AI models, their solution reduces claims processing time from weeks to hours and eases customer anxiety, letting policyholders focus on recovery while the system handles the details.

Suncorp Hackers

“Team Suncorp Hackers impressed us with their solution, showing how insurers can transform the claims experience, reduce processing time, and deliver immediate, empathetic support to customers in their most difficult moment” said DEVHack judge Jonathan Michael, Director of Developer Relations at Guidewire. “As the only insurer to reach the finalist stage, Suncorp stands out for both its technical vision and its commitment to putting empathy at the heart of insurance.”

Team Sollers Alpha

Sollers

Team Sollers Alpha built “RE:AI Deal,” a solution that uses AI and Guidewire’s latest cloud tools to let brokers submit unstructured policy slips (like PDFs or emails), which are automatically analyzed, triaged, and quoted for vehicle fleet insurance. By streamlining document intake and offer generation, their approach enables faster, more flexible client communications—and proves how quickly insurance products can reach market using low/no-code Guidewire technology and modern AI.

Sollers Consulting

“The Sollers Alpha solution was creative and innovative, and solved a real industry issue leveraging Generative AI in an interesting and useful way,” said DEVHack judge Terry Buechner, Principal Insurance Specialist, Global Core Systems Lead at AWS.
