The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company ("The Dominion"), a leading Canadian property and casualty insurer; and Guidewire Software®, a leading provider of technology solutions to property and casualty and workers' compensation insurers, today announced that The Dominion is in production with Guidewire ClaimCenter®. ClaimCenter is being used to modernize and replace the company's existing legacy claims system in order to better serve the needs of its policyholders and its network of independent brokers.

The Dominion's phased ClaimCenter roll-out started with 35 adjusters and is on track to include 300 adjusters by the end of May 2007. This initial phase includes personal automobile and personal property, along with some commercial automobile lines.

"Our Guidewire implementation project has gone very smoothly," said Janet Babcock, vice president and chief information officer, The Dominion. "ClaimCenter's intuitive web interface is a big hit with our adjusters who are able to quickly become proficient on the new system. The feedback from the first group of users has been extremely positive, with the remainder of our adjusters anxious to move to the Guidewire system."

ClaimCenter provides The Dominion with a modern claims system to optimize claims handling and improve service to policyholders and its network of independent brokers. With ClaimCenter, The Dominion is able to:

  • Maintain and improve high levels of claims service to policyholders;

  • Capture richer and higher quality data;

  • Enhance claim adjusting speed, consistency, and adjuster satisfaction by providing an intuitive and flexible system;

  • Leverage a modern, web-based application that is easily configurable to meet continually changing business needs; and

  • Enhance claims operational efficiencies and cost control.

"The Dominion is committed to "doing the right thing" and our ClaimCenter decision is no exception. This new system will serve us well for years to come, and enables us to continue improving the excellent claims service our policyholders and brokers expect," said Jerry Dalla Corte, vice president, Business Process Delivery and Information, The Dominion. "We have been very impressed with Guidewire's unique combination of insurance software expertise and deep understanding of our industry."

Guidewire ClaimCenter is a leading end-to-end claims system for property & casualty insurance. ClaimCenter's flexible business rules enable claims organizations to optimize and monitor the claim process. Claims executives can define, enforce, and continually refine their preferred claim adjusting practices. In addition, a modern technology architecture, providing 100% Web client, and Web services interface enable lower total cost of ownership in any environment.

"We congratulate The Dominion on all of their hard work," said Alex Naddaff, vice president, Professional Services, Guidewire Software. "They have been an outstanding partner on this project. We look forward to assisting The Dominion in bringing even more value to their policyholders through the ongoing replacement of their legacy claims system."
