As Guidewire continues to lead the global transformation of the P&C insurance industry, we are deploying a team of international Cloud experts to Japan to spearhead critical migrations and implementations.
We are seeking a Full-time, highly skilled Interpreter/Translator to join the team. In this role, you will be the vital link between our English-speaking team members and our Japanese customers. As a language specialist, you will support our implementation projects, sales/pre-sales activities, etc.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Simultaneous & Consecutive Interpretation: Provide real-time interpretation for various meetings from field to executive level. These include online/onsite high-level technical workshops, steering committee meetings, and daily stand-ups between English-speaking team members and Japanese customer/partner teams.
Technical Documentation Translation: Translate project artifacts, including requirements, reports, deliverables, Guidewire assets and training manuals from English to Japanese (and vice versa).
Meeting Support: Accompany English-speaking team members to customer sites as needed, ensuring that technical nuances regarding Guidewire products and insurance contents are accurately conveyed.
Contractor Oversight: Responsible for the management and coaching of interpretation and translation contractors.
Process Optimization: Drive initiatives focused on the comprehensive enhancement and streamlining of linguistic services.
Agility & Responsiveness: Demonstrate the ability to dynamically adjust priorities and provide flexible support for urgent project requirements.
Vendor Coordination: Manage ad-hoc outsourcing for linguistic support when needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Language Mastery: Exceptional fluency in both English and Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent for non-native speakers).
Professional Interpretation Experience: 3+ years of experience in technical interpretation/translation within the IT, Software (SaaS) and Insurance sectors is preferred. A minimum of one hour of simultaneous and consecutive interpretations (bidirectional English and Japanese).
Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with software development lifecycles (SDLC), or P&C insurance operations is highly preferred.
Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure project environment with tight deadlines.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to manage communication dynamics between different cultures.
Autonomy: Strong ability to work independently to tight schedules.
Applications: Google business applications or MS Office (Word, Excel and PPT)
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting Guidewire implementations or similar ERP/Core System transformations.
Prior experience working with international consulting firms or global software vendors in Japan.
