The members of Guidewire’s leadership team have deep knowledge of insurance and financial institutions combined with broad expertise in building and delivering applications for Fortune 1000 companies.

Executive Team

Marcus Ryu is Guidewire’s Chief Executive Officer and President and has overall responsibility for our operations and strategic direction. Since co-founding the company in 2001, he has held a variety of roles for the company, including securing key customer relationships, communicating our value proposition, and defining our product strategy. He serves on our Board of Directors and has managed the engineering, sales, services, and strategy departments. Before Guidewire, Marcus was Vice President of Strategy at Ariba and an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Marcus currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bloomreach, a cloud personalization platform company. He has an A.B. from Princeton University and a B.Phil. from New College, Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.

Priscilla Hung oversees Guidewire's worldwide operations, including product development, corporate and product strategy, presales, product marketing, alliances, information systems technology and security, cloud operations, and customer support. Priscilla has extensive enterprise software experience at startups and public companies. Before joining Guidewire in 2005, she held several management positions at Ariba Inc., including Director of Operations and Director of Global Channels and Alliances. Previously, she held several channel, business development, and product marketing positions at Sun Microsystems, Uniface/Compuware, Pyramid/Siemens Nixdorf, and Oracle Corporation. Priscilla has an M.Eng Industrial Engineering and Operations Research degree from Cornell University and serves on the board of ContractRoom.

Curtis Smith is Guidewire’s Chief Financial Officer and has overall global responsibility for our finance operations. From 2014 to 2018, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Infusion Software, a cloud-based sales and marketing automation company. From 2010 to 2013, he was Chief Financial Officer at Keynote Systems, a publicly traded cloud-based digital performance management software company. Previously, he held leadership positions at investment banks focused on the software industry, including Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group. Curtis holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Southern California and a B.A. from Brigham Young University.

Ali Kheirolomoom is Guidewire’s Chief Product Officer and is responsible for Guidewire’s development organization. Ali joins Guidewire from Serena Software where he was responsible for product development and product strategy. Prior to Serena, Ali was co-founder and Vice President of Development/Chief Technology Officer for Avinon where he oversaw the development of the company’s highly regarded NetScenario software for Web services application assembly. Before Avinon, he was Vice President of Product Management at Mosaix. There he defined the company's product strategy and was the driving force behind the development of its leading-edge process automation product, which subsequently became the foundation for the CRM initiative at Lucent Technologies (now Avaya, Inc.). Ali is a past recipient of ComputerWorld Premier 100 IT Leaders and Premier 20 Innovators awards. Ali holds a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of California in Santa Cruz.

Steven Sherry has a successful track record of enterprise application sales management at large enterprise software companies. As Guidewire’s Chief Sales Officer, he leads the company's organizations for global sales, sales operations, customer relationship management, and partner alliances. His teams are focused on achieving alignment between Guidewire’s core, data, and digital product portfolios and the transformation agendas of property and casualty insurers. Previously, as Group Vice President for Americas Sales, Steve was instrumental in leading Guidewire’s sales teams to success over the past decade throughout the United States, Canada, and South America. Before joining Guidewire, he served as Area Vice President for Oracle Corporation as well as Vice President for Worldwide Sales at Siemens Corporation. Steve has a B.S. in Marketing and Business from Arizona State University.

As Chief Business Officer, Eileen Maier has global responsibility for product-line business strategy, presales, product marketing, and value consulting. Her teams are responsible for ensuring that Guidewire’s product lines are driven by market-informed, ambitious, multiyear strategies, and for providing the messaging, training, and demonstration systems needed for sales success. Previously, as Senior Vice President of Solution Consulting, Eileen built Guidewire’s industry-leading global presales teams that are responsible for engaging our customers through their product selection process. Before joining Guidewire, she held several positions in presales at PeopleSoft and Oracle, as well as a variety of underwriting and management positions at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Eileen holds a B.A. in English from Loyola University and an MBA from Suffolk University, Boston.

As Chief Marketing Officer, Brian Desmond is responsible for the development and execution of Guidewire’s global marketing efforts, including demand creation, positioning, branding, and communications. Brian joined Guidewire in 2006, and during his tenure the company has become an industry-leading brand, developed a customer base in more than 20 countries, and had a successful public offering. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the high-tech industry. Prior to joining Guidewire, he served as Vice President of Marketing for PeopleSoft's Supply Chain solutions and held a variety of marketing leadership and product marketing roles at Ketera, Ariba, and Tradex Technologies. Brian began his career at Accenture. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics and Marketing from University College of Cork, Ireland.

Mike Polelle is Chief Delivery Officer and responsible for Guidewire’s professional services including Consulting, Education, and Support. In this role he is responsible for ensuring customers obtain the maximum value and success in utilizing Guidewire solutions. Mike brings 25 years of experience of building and managing enterprise application services organizations, both in services only companies as well as end-to-end solutions providers. Prior to joining Guidewire Mike was Senior Vice President for Americas Services for JDA, a leading supplier of enterprise supply chain systems where he led the organization through several transformations including the merger with Red Prairie. Prior to JDA Mike served as Vice President of North American services for both Manugistics and QAD, and a variety of management positions at Accenture, Grant Thornton, and TDS. Mike holds a B.S. In Applied Math, Engineering, and Physics from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. In Operations Management from the University of Minnesota

In his role as Chief Cloud and Customer Officer, Alex Naddaff leads Guidewire’s Customer Success, Support, and Cloud Operations teams. His teams partner with customers to maximize the value of their Guidewire investments and to ensure that customer interests remain a top priority for the company. Alex served as Guidewire’s Vice President of Professional Services from 2002 to 2014, building the group from a one-person operation into a global organization of more than 500 employees working in over 21 countries. In his career, Alex has played a key role in designing technology solutions for the insurance industry and ensuring successful customer implementations. He brings more than 20 years of experience building, implementing, and managing mission-critical systems for major financial institutions. As Vice President of Claims Technology at Hartford Financial Services, Alex established a multi-year strategic direction and led the implementation of claims technology for more than 6,000 claims staff supporting the auto, property, general liability, and workers’ compensation business lines. Prior to that, he was First Vice President of Credit Systems at MBNA America, where he developed systems for credit line management, credit application processing, and imaging. He was previously a Vice President at J.P. Morgan. Alex has a B.S. from Wagner College.

Winston King is responsible for Guidewire’s worldwide administrative functions, including human resources, legal, recruiting, and corporate services, while also serving as Guidewire’s General Counsel and Secretary. Prior to Guidewire, Winston served as EVP, General Counsel, and Secretary at Infogroup Inc., a marketing data, services, and research firm. Previously, he was with WilmerHale, an international law firm, where he worked primarily in the corporate, M&A, and securities enforcement areas. Winston served as a clerk to Judge Bruce Selya on the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Law and earned an economics degree with honors from Duke University.

Before joining Guidewire in 2018, Paul Mang served as the Global CEO of Analytics at Aon plc, a leading professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement, and health solutions around the globe. Paul was also the Managing Partner at Avarie Capital LLC, a strategic advisory and investment firm focused on new ventures in fintech. He was a Partner at McKinsey & Company and a leader in its North American Insurance practice. During his 14 years at McKinsey's offices in both Chicago and London, he counseled numerous clients on issues of strategy, organization, and operations. Prior to McKinsey, Paul was on the faculty of the Graduate School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. His research in technology strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation management has been published in journals such as Strategic Organization, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Research Policy, and McKinsey Quarterly. Paul holds a doctorate from Harvard University and both an MS in Engineering and a BA in Economics from Stanford University.

As Guidewire's Vice President of Strategy, Neil Betteridge is responsible for shaping Guidewire’s strategic direction. Previously, Neil held the role of Guidewire’s Director of Product Marketing where he was instrumental in the marketing strategy, positioning, and direction of Guidewire’s product suite. Neil has over 25 years of professional experience with the last two decades focused on development, implementation, marketing and management of technology solutions in the insurance industry. Prior to Guidewire, Neil was with Skywire Software (now Oracle), as Vice President of Product Management. Neil also served as Vice President of Marketing with InSystems. Earlier in his insurance industry career, Neil held a variety of marketing and technical positions at other software providers. In addition to his professional experience, Neil holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from McGill University.

Regional Sales Leadership

Larry Chlebeck joined Guidewire in 2005 and was a Regional Vice President of Sales for the United States and Canada for six years before being named to his current position. His responsibilities include Japan, Canada, and Latin America. Previously he held sales and sales management positions for Oracle Corporation and the former Control Data Corporation. UofM-Political Science

Steve Dobbs is responsible for our global go-to-market strategy for product specialty sales, including digital engagement, analytics, and data services. With over 20 years of sales leadership experience in the high-tech industry, Steve has an extensive background in helping organizations realize value from market-leading and innovative technology solutions. Prior to joining Guidewire in early 2018, he built and led a number of large-scale direct and indirect sales organizations at Google, Vlocity, ServiceSource, and Oracle. He holds BA degrees in both Financial Management and Economics from the University of St. Thomas.

Greg Osborne joined Guidewire in March 2018 with 25 years of experience in the P&C software industry and currently serves as Vice President of Sales for Major Accounts (in the United States) and Asia Pacific (excluding Japan). Prior to Guidewire, Greg was Senior Vice President of Sales for Duck Creek Technologies in North America and Asia Pacific, and before that was Vice President of Insurance and Healthcare at Exstream Software. He has a BSc in Computer Studies from the University of South Australia and an MBA with a focus in International Business from the University of South Carolina.

Keith Stonell joined Guidewire in January 2013 as the new Managing Director of EMEA. Keith is based in our London office and has the very important task of leading the next phase of investment to further develop the EMEA business for Guidewire. Keith joined Guidewire from Temenos Software where he led a portion of their European and Emerging Markets Operations. Previous to Temenos, Keith acted as the managing Director for EMEA for the Financial Services Division of Misys PLC. Both Temenos and Misys are large enterprise software companies selling core systems to the financial services industry. Prior to this, Keith has run Software operations in Asia Pacific. He has a BSc Econ from Southampton University.

Ken Shapiro was Regional Vice President of Sales for the United States and Latin America for six years before being named to his current position as Group Vice President for the Americas. He has held executive positions in sales for Oracle Corporation, Skyware Software, Docucorp International, and ITC. Ken holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Board of Directors

Peter Gassner has served on our Board of Directors since 2015 and as Chairman of the board since March 2017.  Mr. Gassner founded Veeva Systems Inc. in 2007 and as CEO, is responsible for its overall direction and management.  He is a member of Veeva’s board of directors and is a twenty year veteran of the software industry.  He is also a member of the board of directors of Zoom Video Communications, a privately held company providing video conferencing services. Prior to founding Veeva, Mr. Gassner was Senior Vice President of Technology at salesforce.com where he had responsibility for building the salesforce.com platform including product, marketing and developer relations.  During Mr. Gassner’s tenure, salesforce.com completed its initial public offering and grew the technology into the most successful SaaS platform in the industry.  Before salesfore.com, Mr. Gassner was with PeopleSoft for nine years as both Chief Architect and General Manager of PeopleTools.  Mr. Gassner led a team of over 450 professionals who provided the development, strategy, marketing and customer support for PeopleSoft’s technology platform.  PeopleTools was widely regarded in the industry as the best application platform of its day.  Mr. Gassner began his career with IBM in relational database development and research at IBM Silicon Valley Lab and then at IBM Almaden Research Center where he had the privilege of working closely with some of the inventors of relational database technology.  Mr. Gassner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Oregon State University.

Andy Brown has served on our board of directors since 2013. Mr. Brown currently serves as CEO of Sand Hill East, LLC, which provides strategic management, investment and marketing services to emerging companies. Mr. Brown is also a member of the boards of directors of Zscaler, Inc., a privately held company providing cloud security services, LMRKTS LLC, a company providing FX and Swaps compression utilities, Moogsoft, a next generation AI-Operations company, and SiteHands, a company providing “field engineering as a service.” He is also CEO and co-owner of Biz Tectonics LLC, a privately held consulting company. From September 2010 to October 2013, Mr. Brown served as Group Chief Technology Officer of UBS, an investment bank. Prior to that, Mr. Brown served in a variety of executive management and leadership roles at a variety of leading banking companies including Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse.  Mr. Brown holds a BSc Honors Degree in Chemical Physics from University College London.

Craig Conway has served on our board of directors since December 2010. Mr. Conway served as Executive Chairman of the board from December 2010 to March 2014, and was Chairman of the board from March 2014 to April 2015, and October 2016 to March 2017. From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Conway served as President and Chief Executive Officer of PeopleSoft, Inc., an enterprise application software company. Mr. Conway also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of One Touch Systems, a high bandwidth network communications provider, from 1996 to 1999 and TGV Software, a TCP/IP protocol and applications company, from 1993 to 1996. Prior to that, Mr. Conway held executive management positions at a variety of leading technology companies including Executive Vice President at Oracle Corporation. Mr. Conway currently serves as a director of Salesforce.com and Industrial and Financial Systems, IFS AB (IFS). During the past five years, Mr. Conway has also served as a director of Achievers and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD). Mr. Conway received a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the State University of New York at Brockport.

Guy Dubois has served on our board of directors since 2012. Mr. Dubois currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Access Group, a privately held company and a leading mid-market software solutions provider in the U.K. He is also a member of the board of directors of Ansys Inc., a publicly traded company that develops and globally markets engineering simulation software and technologies widely used by engineers and designers across a broad spectrum of industries. Since 2013, he has served as Chairman of NewVoiceMedia, a privately held UK firm specializing in cloud contact center technology. From 2013 to 2014, he was a Senior Advisor at Silver Lake, a leading private equity technology investor. From July 2011 to July 2012, he held the position of CEO at banking software provider, TEMENOS. From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Dubois served as president and CEO of MACH Group, a hub-based mobile communications exchange solutions provider. From 2007 to 2008, Mr. Dubois was the EVP and president of the global products division of Amdocs. From 2005 to 2007, he was president and CEO of Cramer Systems. Between 2001 and 2005, he was EVP at PeopleSoft, where he led strategy and business development outside North America. Previously, Mr. Dubois held senior positions with Vantive, Sybase and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Dubois graduated with a Master of Science & Business from Lille University as well as being a graduate of the University of Lille Engineering School.

Paul Lavin has served on our board of directors since 2014. Mr. Lavin is Executive Director of American Health and First Health Network, leading medical management companies and subsidiaries of Aetna. Prior to joining American Health in 2008, Mr. Lavin was a Managing Director at BearingPoint/KPMG Consulting where his focus was on financial services, primarily insurance and investments. Mr. Lavin was formerly a Senior Vice President at Prudential, an executive at Alexander & Alexander and a principal at Mercer Management Consulting. He holds both a BS in Economics and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Clifton Thomas Weatherford has served on our board of directors since 2007. Since 2003, Mr. Weatherford has served as a board member and financial consultant to several companies. From 1997 until 2003, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Business Objects S.A., a provider of business intelligence software. Mr. Weatherford currently serves on the board of directors and is the chair of the audit committee of Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. and has served as a member of the SEC Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards. Within the past five years, Mr. Weatherford has also served on the boards of directors of Advanced Analogic Technologies, Inc., SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., Tesco Corporation and Spansion, Inc. Mr. Weatherford holds a B.B.A. from the University of Houston.
