The members of Guidewire’s leadership team have deep knowledge of insurance and financial institutions combined with broad expertise in building and delivering applications for Fortune 1000 companies.

Executive Team

Mike Rosenbaum serves as Guidewire’s Chief Executive Officer and has overall responsibility for the company’s global strategy, organization, culture, and operations.

Prior to Guidewire, Mike was part of the team at Salesforce for almost 14 years where he held several leadership positions and drove many of Salesforce’s most notable product achievements. Most recently, Mike served as EVP Product, leading the product management and go to market strategy for Salesforce’s core CRM product lines Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Salesforce’s Platform business, and led the launch of Salesforce Lightning, a next generation user experience framework. Prior to that, Mike led Salesforce’s Platform organization and the AppExchange ecosystem.

Prior to Salesforce, he held various technology and marketing roles at Siebel Systems and spent five years serving in the U.S. Navy as a submarine officer onboard the USS Nevada.

Mike is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering and The Haas School of Business at the University of California Berkeley where he earned an MBA. He is passionate about building great teams and delivering innovative products and platforms that deliver value for customers, partners and shareholders.  

Priscilla Hung oversees Guidewire's worldwide operations, including product development, corporate and product strategy, alliances, information systems technology and security, cloud operations, and customer support. Priscilla has extensive enterprise software experience at startups and public companies. Before joining Guidewire in 2005, she held several management positions at Ariba Inc., including Director of Operations and Director of Global Channels and Alliances. Previously, she held several channel, business development, and product marketing positions at Sun Microsystems, Uniface/Compuware, Pyramid/Siemens Nixdorf, and Oracle Corporation. Priscilla has an M.Eng Industrial Engineering and Operations Research degree from Cornell University. Priscilla serves on the board of ContractRoom, a privately held cloud-based negotiation and deal lifecycle management platform company, Vonage Holdings (NYSE: VG), a publicly-traded business communication platform for enterprises, and is an advisor to the board of HumanAPI, a privately held company providing a centralized hub for all the medical information used in conventional underwriting.

Curtis Smith is Guidewire’s Chief Financial Officer and has overall global responsibility for our finance operations. From 2014 to 2018, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Infusion Software, a cloud-based sales and marketing automation company. From 2010 to 2013, he was Chief Financial Officer at Keynote Systems, a publicly traded cloud-based digital performance management software company. Previously, he held leadership positions at investment banks focused on the software industry, including Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group. Curtis holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Southern California and a B.A. from Brigham Young University.

Diego Devalle has held a number of executive positions overseeing technology and product development in the San Francisco Bay Area, India, and Europe. As Vice President of Software Development at SAP Labs in Bangalore, Diego led the local development team on multiple releases of SAP’s SRM software. As Vice President of Product and Engineering at SAP Labs in Palo Alto, California, he led a team distributed across Shanghai, Montreal, and Palo Alto that delivered SAP Business Suite solutions. As Senior Vice President of Product Development at Monitise, he integrated the company’s development team after its acquisition of Clairmail and introduced agile methodology. Diego started his career in Italy , where he followed his passion for technology and in 1992 co-founded Italy’s first online community, Znort.it, where he pioneered digital marketing and e-commerce before moving to the Netherlands to join Baan and begin his career in enterprise software.

Steven Sherry has a successful track record of enterprise application sales management at large enterprise software companies. As Guidewire’s Chief Sales Officer, he leads the company's organizations for global sales, sales operations, customer relationship management, and partner alliances. His teams are focused on achieving alignment between Guidewire’s core, data, and digital product portfolios and the transformation agendas of property and casualty insurers. Previously, as Group Vice President for Americas Sales, Steve was instrumental in leading Guidewire’s sales teams to success over the past decade throughout the United States, Canada, and South America. Before joining Guidewire, he served as Area Vice President for Oracle Corporation as well as Vice President for Worldwide Sales at Siemens Corporation. Steve has a B.S. in Marketing and Business from Arizona State University.

As Chief Transformation Officer, Eileen Maier has global responsibility for enterprise-wide change initiatives. Eileen’s team ensures that Guidewire’s change initiatives align with overall business strategy and encourages a systematic and streamlined approach to communication, collaboration, planning, and execution. Since joining Guidewire in 2005, she has had executive leadership roles across sales, marketing, and go-to-market functions. Previously she held several positions in presales at PeopleSoft and Oracle, as well as a variety of underwriting and management positions at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Eileen holds a B.A. in English from Loyola University, Baltimore, and an MBA from Suffolk University, Boston.

Brian Desmond is responsible for Guidewire’s global marketing efforts, including demand generation, branding, product and solution marketing, sales enablement, and communications. Brian joined Guidewire in 2006, and during his tenure the company has been recognized as an industry-leading brand serving customers in 30+ countries. He has more than 25 years of experience in the high-tech industry. Prior to Guidewire, he served as Vice President of Marketing for PeopleSoft’s Supply Chain division and held marketing leadership and product marketing roles at Ketera, Ariba, and Tradex. Brian began his career at Accenture. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College of Cork, Ireland.

Mike Polelle is Chief Delivery Officer and responsible for Guidewire’s professional services including Consulting, Education, and Support. In this role he is responsible for ensuring customers obtain the maximum value and success in utilizing Guidewire solutions. Mike brings 25 years of experience of building and managing enterprise application services organizations, both in services only companies as well as end-to-end solutions providers. Prior to joining Guidewire Mike was Senior Vice President for Americas Services for JDA, a leading supplier of enterprise supply chain systems where he led the organization through several transformations including the merger with Red Prairie. Prior to JDA Mike served as Vice President of North American services for both Manugistics and QAD, and a variety of management positions at Accenture, Grant Thornton, and TDS. Mike holds a B.S. In Applied Math, Engineering, and Physics from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. In Operations Management from the University of Minnesota

In his role as Chief Cloud and Customer Officer, Alex Naddaff leads Guidewire’s Customer Success, Support, and Cloud Operations teams. His teams partner with customers to maximize the value of their Guidewire investments and to ensure that customer interests remain a top priority for the company. Alex served as Guidewire’s Vice President of Professional Services from 2002 to 2014, building the group from a one-person operation into a global organization of more than 500 employees working in over 21 countries. In his career, Alex has played a key role in designing technology solutions for the insurance industry and ensuring successful customer implementations. He brings more than 20 years of experience building, implementing, and managing mission-critical systems for major financial institutions. As Vice President of Claims Technology at Hartford Financial Services, Alex established a multi-year strategic direction and led the implementation of claims technology for more than 6,000 claims staff supporting the auto, property, general liability, and workers’ compensation business lines. Prior to that, he was First Vice President of Credit Systems at MBNA America, where he developed systems for credit line management, credit application processing, and imaging. He was previously a Vice President at J.P. Morgan. Alex has a B.S. from Wagner College.

Winston King is responsible for Guidewire’s worldwide administrative functions, including human resources, legal, recruiting, business technology, and corporate services, while also serving as Guidewire’s General Counsel and Secretary. Prior to Guidewire, Winston served as EVP, General Counsel, and Secretary at Infogroup Inc., a marketing data, services, and research firm. Previously, he was with WilmerHale, an international law firm, where he worked primarily in the corporate, M&A, and securities enforcement areas. Winston served as a clerk to Judge Bruce Selya on the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Law and earned an economics degree with honors from Duke University.

Before joining Guidewire in 2018, Paul Mang served as the Global CEO of Analytics at Aon plc, a leading professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement, and health solutions around the globe. Paul was also the Managing Partner at Avarie Capital LLC, a strategic advisory and investment firm focused on new ventures in fintech. He was a Partner at McKinsey & Company and a leader in its North American Insurance practice. During his 14 years at McKinsey's offices in both Chicago and London, he counseled numerous clients on issues of strategy, organization, and operations. Prior to McKinsey, Paul was on the faculty of the Graduate School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. His research in technology strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation management has been published in journals such as Strategic Organization, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Research Policy, and McKinsey Quarterly. Paul holds a doctorate from Harvard University and both an MS in Engineering and a BA in Economics from Stanford University.

Kirk Sanford is Guidewire’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He has 20 years of experience leading technology and security teams in SaaS and Fortune 500 companies, including eBay, PayPal, and Qualtrics. While at eBay, he was responsible for all production and corporate security engineering and operations functions. He also established eBay’s first Office of Information Security Policy and Compliance. During part of his career, Kirk worked with growth companies by providing security, architecture, and C-level leadership consulting services. He is also a co-inventor of four security-related patents.

As Guidewire's Vice President of Strategy, Neil Betteridge is responsible for shaping Guidewire’s strategic direction. Previously, Neil held the role of Guidewire’s Director of Product Marketing where he was instrumental in the marketing strategy, positioning, and direction of Guidewire’s product suite. Neil has over 25 years of professional experience with the last two decades focused on development, implementation, marketing and management of technology solutions in the insurance industry. Prior to Guidewire, Neil was with Skywire Software (now Oracle), as Vice President of Product Management. Neil also served as Vice President of Marketing with InSystems. Earlier in his insurance industry career, Neil held a variety of marketing and technical positions at other software providers. In addition to his professional experience, Neil holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from McGill University.

Keith Stonell joined Guidewire in January 2013 and has led the EMEA business through consistent growth, including doubling revenue and customers between 2016 and 2019. We now have more than 75 EMEA insurers using our products in 16 countries. Based in our London office, Keith is responsible for 650 employees and 12 offices, and he’s leading the next phase of investment to further develop regional business. He previously worked at Temenos Software, where he led a portion of the European and Emerging Markets operations. Prior to that, he acted as the managing Director for EMEA for the Financial Services Division of Misys PLC. Both Temenos and Misys are large enterprise software companies selling core systems to the financial services industry. He also ran software operations in the Asia-Pacific region. Keith has a BSc Econ degree from Southampton University.

Regional Sales Leadership

Ken Shapiro was Regional Vice President of Sales for the United States and Latin America for six years before being named to his current position as Group Vice President for the Americas. He has held executive positions in sales for Oracle Corporation, Skyware Software, Docucorp International, and ITC. Ken holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Larry Chlebeck joined Guidewire in 2005 and was a Regional Vice President of Sales for the United States and Canada for six years before being named to his current position. His responsibilities include Japan, Canada, and Latin America. Previously he held sales and sales management positions for Oracle Corporation and the former Control Data Corporation. UofM-Political Science

Steve Dobbs is responsible for our global go-to-market strategy for product specialty sales, including digital engagement, analytics, and data services. With over 20 years of sales leadership experience in the high-tech industry, Steve has an extensive background in helping organizations realize value from market-leading and innovative technology solutions. Prior to joining Guidewire in early 2018, he built and led a number of large-scale direct and indirect sales organizations at Google, Vlocity, ServiceSource, and Oracle. He holds BA degrees in both Financial Management and Economics from the University of St. Thomas.

Laurent Fontaine leads Guidewire business development across EMEA with a clear focus on the major P&C insurance markets of the region. For the past 25 years, he has held French and European sales management positions in the IT industry in a wide variety of domains including hardware, data center operations, engineering, consulting, and—for the past 19 years—enterprise software applications. Prior to his seven years with Guidewire, Laurent worked at IBM, ATOS, Sun Microsystems, Siebel, and Oracle. He has extensive experience leading major transformation projects in all areas, from defining the initial business case and implementing applications to change management and operations. Laurent has degrees from Université de Grenoble and Institut Supérieur de Gestion.

Board of Directors

Marcus Ryu has served as Guidewire’s Chairman since August 2019, leading the company’s Board of Directors, contributing to the company’s strategy, and serving key customer and industry relationships. Since co-founding the company in 2001, Marcus served many roles for the company, including leading the product, marketing, sales, and services teams. Most recently, Marcus served as CEO from 2010 to 2019, leading the company through its IPO in 2012.  During his tenure as CEO, Guidewire became the market-leading provider of mission-critical applications to P&C insurers. Before co-founding Guidewire, he was Vice President of Strategy at Ariba and an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Marcus currently serves on the Board of Directors of Cornerstone on Demand (NASDAQ: CSOD) and the private companies Checkr and Bloomreach. He has an A.B. from Princeton University and a B.Phil. from New College, Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.

Paul Lavin has served on our board of directors since 2014 and as Lead Independent Director since August 2019. Mr. Lavin serves as Executive Director of both American Health Holding and First Health Network, leading health insurance-related companies and subsidiaries of Aetna, holding those positions since 2008 and 2017, respectively. Prior to joining Aetna, Mr. Lavin was a Managing Director at KPMG Consulting/BearingPoint, where his focus was on financial services, primarily insurance. Mr. Lavin was formerly a Senior Vice President at Prudential, an executive at Alexander & Alexander, a Principal at Mercer Management Consulting, and an auditor at Price Waterhouse, where he was a CPA. He holds both a BS in Economics and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Andy Brown has served on our board of directors since 2013. Mr. Brown currently serves as CEO of Sand Hill East, LLC, which provides strategic management, investment, and marketing services to emerging companies. Mr. Brown is also a member of the boards of directors of Zscaler, Inc., a publicly traded company providing cloud security services; LMRKTS LLC, a company providing FX and Swaps compression utilities; Moogsoft, a next -generation AI-Operations company; SiteHands, a company providing “field engineering as a service”; and Pure Storage, Inc., a publicly traded software-defined data storage solutions company. He is also CEO and co-owner of Biz Tectonics LLC, a privately held consulting company. From September 2010 to October 2013, Mr. Brown served as Group Chief Technology Officer of UBS, an investment bank. Prior to that, Mr. Brown served in a variety of executive management and leadership roles at a variety of leading banking companies including Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, and Credit Suisse. Mr. Brown holds a BSc Honors Degree in Chemical Physics from University College London.

Margie Dillon has served on our board since 2019. From December 1993 to September 2017, Ms. Dillon served in various roles at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, including as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Personal Insurance, and as Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, U.S. Consumer Markets. Ms. Dillon holds a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Finance from Boston College.

Guy Dubois has served on our board of directors since 2012. Mr. Dubois currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Access Group, a privately held company and a leading mid-market software solutions provider in the U.K. He is also a member of the board of directors of Ansys Inc., a publicly traded company that develops and globally markets engineering simulation software and technologies widely used by engineers and designers across a broad spectrum of industries. Since 2013, he has served as Chairman of NewVoiceMedia, a privately held UK firm specializing in cloud contact center technology. From 2013 to 2014, he was a Senior Advisor at Silver Lake, a leading private equity technology investor. From July 2011 to July 2012, he held the position of CEO at banking software provider, TEMENOS. From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Dubois served as president and CEO of MACH Group, a hub-based mobile communications exchange solutions provider. From 2007 to 2008, Mr. Dubois was the EVP and president of the global products division of Amdocs. From 2005 to 2007, he was president and CEO of Cramer Systems. Between 2001 and 2005, he was EVP at PeopleSoft, where he led strategy and business development outside North America. Previously, Mr. Dubois held senior positions with Vantive, Sybase and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Dubois graduated with a Master of Science & Business from Lille University as well as being a graduate of the University of Lille Engineering School.

Peter Gassner has served on our Board of Directors since 2015 and as Chairman of the board from March 2017 to August 2019. Mr. Gassner founded Veeva Systems Inc. in 2007 and as CEO, is responsible for its overall direction and management.  He is a member of Veeva’s board of directors and is a twenty year veteran of the software industry.  He is also a member of the board of directors of Zoom Video Communications, a privately held company providing video conferencing services. Prior to founding Veeva, Mr. Gassner was Senior Vice President of Technology at salesforce.com where he had responsibility for building the salesforce.com platform including product, marketing and developer relations.  During Mr. Gassner’s tenure, salesforce.com completed its initial public offering and grew the technology into the most successful SaaS platform in the industry.  Before salesfore.com, Mr. Gassner was with PeopleSoft for nine years as both Chief Architect and General Manager of PeopleTools.  Mr. Gassner led a team of over 450 professionals who provided the development, strategy, marketing and customer support for PeopleSoft’s technology platform.  PeopleTools was widely regarded in the industry as the best application platform of its day.  Mr. Gassner began his career with IBM in relational database development and research at IBM Silicon Valley Lab and then at IBM Almaden Research Center where he had the privilege of working closely with some of the inventors of relational database technology.  Mr. Gassner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Oregon State University.

Mike Keller has served on our board since 2019. Mr. Keller currently serves as a consultant for MCK Consultants, LLC, an organization which he also owns and serves as principal of, which focuses on technology solutions for the insurance and financial services industries. Since April 2019, he has served as chairman of the Company’s customer Strategic Advisory Councils. From June 2001 to June 2018, Mr. Keller served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Nationwide Insurance and Financial Services, From January 1998 to May 2001, Mr. Keller served as Chief Technology Officer at JPMorgan Chase & Co. (formerly Bank One), a commercial banking and financial services company. Mr. Keller holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan.

Cathy Lego has served on our board since 2019. Ms. Lego is currently a member of the board of directors of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, a publicly traded semiconductor design and manufacturing company, where she serves as the chair of the audit committee and a member of the nominating and corporate governance committee; IPG Photonics Corporation, a publicly traded producer of high-power fiber lasers, where she has been the chair of the compensation committee since 2017 and a member of the audit committee since 2016; and Lam Research Corporation, a publicly traded  wafer fabrication equipment company, where she has been the chair of the compensation committee since 2015 and a member of the nominating and governance committee since 2014, and was chair of the audit committee from 2009 to 2014. From 2013 to 2016, she was a member of the board of directors of Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc., a fabricator of power management devices, where she was a member of the compensation committee and nominating and governance committee. From 1989 to 2002 and 2004 to 2016, she was a member of the board of directors of SanDisk Corporation, a publicly traded global developer of flash memory storage solutions, where she was the chair of the audit committee. From June 1992 to December 2018, Ms. Lego was an angel investor and financial consultant to early stage technology companies via Lego Ventures, LLC, where she served as its principal and owner. She previously practiced as a certified public accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). Ms. Lego holds a B.A. in Economics and Biology from Williams College and an M.S. in Accounting from the New York University Stern School of Business.

Clifton Thomas Weatherford has served on our board of directors since 2007. Since 2003, Mr. Weatherford has served as a board member and financial consultant to several companies. From 1997 until 2003, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Business Objects S.A., a provider of business intelligence software. Mr. Weatherford has served as a member of the SEC Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards. Within the past five years, he has also served on the boards of directors of Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., Advanced Analogic Technologies, Inc., SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., Tesco Corporation, and Spansion, Inc. Mr. Weatherford holds a B.B.A. from the University of Houston.
