Texas Mutual Insurance Company Deploys Guidewire Core and Data Products

Texas-based workers’ compensation insurer improves business agility and enhances customer and user experience

AUSTIN, Texas and FOSTER CITY, Calif., September 7, 2017

Texas Mutual Insurance Company (Texas Mutual), Texas’ leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, and Guidewire Software (NYSE: GWRE), a provider of software products to the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry, announced today that Texas Mutual has successfully deployed Guidewire PolicyCenter®, Client Data Management, Standards Based Templates, BillingCenter, and DataHub as its underwriting, policy administration, client data, product content, billing and enterprise data management solutions. The company is also in the process of implementing Guidewire InfoCenter™ as its new business intelligence solution.

Texas Mutual deployed Guidewire Core and Data products to modernize its aging, internally-built systems and transform the way it does business. Together, PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and DataHub provide its users with a more advanced product suite and user-friendly experience. Implementing DataHub with PolicyCenter and BillingCenter at the same time helped Texas Mutual view the data challenge holistically and reduce risk to the project, while improving business insight and providing long-term sustainability. Texas Mutual, now a fully-deployed Guidewire InsuranceSuite™ customer, has been in production with Guidewire ClaimCenter® since 2014.

“We handle 40% of the workers’ compensation insurance market in Texas, so implementing the Guidewire platform represents a significant milestone in our company’s long-term system transformation,” said Terry Buchheit, vice president, Core Digital Solutions, Information Technology Division, Texas Mutual. “This new streamlined foundation will provide us additional tools and flexibility to quickly meet our customer needs and enable future growth for Texas Mutual for years to come.”

Buchheit continued, “Feedback from across the business has been positive so far, especially regarding the systems’ intuitiveness. We also used this opportunity to update the entire Texas Mutual website, making it more user-friendly for our customers.”

Guidewire Core and Data products are enabling Texas Mutual to:

  • Enhance operational efficiency, employee productivity, and collaboration throughout the organization to transform its business by standardizing on a modern software technology platform;
  • Simplify the underwriting process by automating manual processes;
  • Better map and convert data through the full InsuranceSuite product line; and
  • Increase responsiveness to changing business and technical requirements by bringing new products and product enhancements to market more quickly.

“We applaud Texas Mutual on their successful deployment of Guidewire Core and Data products,” said Mike Polelle, chief delivery officer, Guidewire Software. “They are well positioned for success in their journey to adapt and succeed in today’s rapidly-changing insurance marketplace.”
