Guidewire seeks a Business Technology Consultant for Japan, based in Tokyo. This customer-facing role drives sales success by transforming solution consulting strategy from on-premise to SaaS sales. Key responsibilities engaging with customers to demonstrate Guidewire's insurance software value, and problem-solving approaches.
Candidates would ideally have enterprise pre-sales experience (preferably in the insurance industry), but more importantly some background in customer facing roles, strong presentation skills and a team player eager to learn.

Role Overview

As a Guidewire Business Technology Consultant, you will be trained and empowered to help insurers leverage the world’s leading insurance platform to drive their business goals. 

Business Technology Consultants work side by side with customers, striving to understand their business objectives and then map our solution to meet their needs. Solution Consulting requires a unique blend of business process expertise, listening skill, technical design creativity, and exceptional communication/presentation skills.

Working with a local and global team of dedicated professionals across Customer Success, Sales, Development and Services you will have a unique opportunity to help shape the direction of our products and services and gain new skills.

The role will report into the Solution Director, based in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in tandem with the Customer Success and Sales team to actively promote Guidewire's insurance solutions to meet insurance needs and ensure continual improvement.

  • Supporting the sales team as an authority on the functional and business aspects of our insurance solution throughout the sales cycle 

  • Serving as a business partner and point-of-contact for customers 

  • Conducting presentation and whiteboard sessions outlining how Guidewire’s capabilities fit within a customer’s broader ecosystem in a consultative approach 

  • Responding to requests for information or proposal (product sections) 

  • Engage in business consulting activities, capable of conducting detailed evaluations and demonstrations tailored to customer requirements.

  • Undertake some travel overseas for additional training and company meetings

Mandatory Skills:

  • Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written)

  • English language skills (for internal communication)

  • Curiosity and passion to learn

  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your role as well as use data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role (ideally pre-sales, but also client consulting and client success roles)

  • Experience in the insurance domain, ideally in General insurance. (Underwriter, claims officer, Insurance Business Analyst, Insurance consultant)

  • Ability to demonstrate that you are a strong presenter who can stand their ground and deal with tough questions.

  • Show that you are a team player who learns from their mistakes and adjusts to work well with colleagues.

  • General knowledge of modern enterprise software technologies

  • Technical experience and configuration of systems is well regarded

  • Confirmed ability to understand business process needs and to conceptualize which requirements are satisfied through our solutions
