We are so excited for the annual Women in Insurance reception, taking place on October 28 at Guidewire Connections. This collaborative event, organized in partnership with EY and the Guidewire Women's Employee Resource Group (GROW), will bring together influential women to discuss how AI is transforming insurance. Building on the success of last year's inaugural reception, the gathering will provide an excellent opportunity for networking and learning from experienced female leaders across the industry.

Our own Chief Evangelist Laura Drabik will bring her fantastic interviewing skills to deep dive into how our trailblazing industry leaders are using AI to transform their companies. Laura will be joined by these expert panelists:

Marina Barg, Chief Claims Officer, Ascot US

Marina Barg is Ascot’s US Chief Claims Officer, overseeing the technical claims handling and strategic direction of the US claims department. She has more than 25 years of legal and insurance industry experience in a variety of senior claims leadership roles with major specialty P&C insurance companies. Marina holds a BA degree in international studies from Johns Hopkins University and a Juris Doctorate (Magna Cum Laude) from Seton Hall Law School.

Rani Bhuva, Partner, FSO Technology, EY

Rani is a principal at EY, with more than 20 years of experience providing analytics-driven risk and finance transformation services to financial services clients. Rani has worked with several global financial institutions in the strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale risk and finance transformation initiatives, including deploying and managing AI to support finance and risk management functions. Rani currently works with financial services clients to create purpose-built governance frameworks and deploy corresponding controls to support deployment of Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions. Rani earned her SB in mathematics with computer science, SB in management science, and minor in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Sushma Segal, Chief Transformation Officer, QBE Insurance Group

Sushma Segal is Chief Transformation Officer at QBE Insurance Group, where she is responsible for leading the Enterprise Transformation Office, a central hub that drives the effective development and delivery of QBE’s transformation roadmap, in alignment with strategic objectives. Join us for an evening of conversation and connection, and celebrate how women in the insurance community are actively shaping the integration of AI in products, processes and people strategies. There will, of course, be appetizers and drinks so everyone can relax and enjoy this fantastic evening at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas!

We are grateful to EY for sponsoring and supporting this event. And, while the title contains “women,” this reception is not just for females. We would love our male allies to join us for what is sure to be a great evening of wonderful insights.
